Wasim Akram got the fame which
one can only dream of in the cricketing world. He can be labelled as the best
fast bowler of all times. He did make the ball talk and walk with no one near
him doing like this. He was the explosive and exciting genius who could change
the situation of match with the ball and also with the bat. So he was also the
best all-rounder of his time.
He started his test career
against New Zealand at Auckland in January 1985 and played his last test
against Bangladesh at Dhaka in January 2002. He started his one day career also
against New Zealand but at Faisalabad in 1984 and he played his last one day
against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on March 4, 2003.
He was a dream cricketer. In
bowling he had full control over swing and seam and he was such a maestro that
he could bowl both ways in one delivery. He could threaten a bowler with his
fast bouncer and also make him suspicious with his sudden slow ball so keeping
the batsman at bay he could acheive his target.
He got 500-wicket milestone in
2003 in One day matches in World Cup. He was a handy batsman as well and could
push the ball flying over the boundary many times in a match and so he was
normally sent at the time of crisis and he delivered most of the times.
His best in batting was 257
against Zimbabwe in Sheikhupura in 1996. After Imran Khan he has been
considered the best captain and leader of the cricket in Pakistan's cricket
history. Some match fixing controversies dimmed his career to a little extent
but overall he is respected quoted as a best all rounder in cricket world and
especially in Pakistan.
His Bowling Average is as follows:
